I wouldn't recommend doing the above system file name changes unless you don't care to use Windows Games Explorer, which apparently downloads box art for your games that it lists and similar – I wouldn't have known, since I've never previously used it. This is a known issue with Windows Games Explorer – regardless of whether or not you actually want to use it – that's apparently been around for several years. so hasplms.exe no longer needs internet access and I don't get the issues with rundll32.exe using available CPU resources. and correspondingly renamed the files to. Using native Windows functionality in the hidden Administrator account, I took user ownership and granted myself full permissions for. Long story short, hasplms.exe apparently needs internet access for some things to run on your computer, or Windows decides to break user hardware resources, because. I use a firewall that doesn't let things "phone home" unless I want them to, so this was blocking this Windows "feature." (I'll refrain from letting you know what I really think of it.) Basically, it's a bug in Windows third party DRM not having internet access. I got it sorted thanks to a pointer on the Steam forums on a thread I started about the issue.

As for the other stuff I really don't know, how I fixed mine was by turning of HDR lighting. OBMM let's you see every plugin whereas running the game doesn't, so every time you start up the game check out OBMM. I would suggest installing Oblivion Mod Manager even if you don't install any mods. Every now and then the masterfile for Oblivion unticks itself, same for mods like Thrust attack animation or Blockhead. If anyone knows of a fix for this offhand, I'd be keen to learn it from you.Įither way, this is perhaps something to look out for while running Oblivion. It's only an issue for me with running these older games. I run a very tight ship, so I know with sufficient confidence that it isn't malware related. Basically, I have to start the games twice as they won't load the first time without rundll32.exe running first and then I have to manually end the rundll32.exe process after exiting the game as it loads up my available CPU usage (on a 12 thread 4.2GHz CPU), effectively doing nothing extremely intensely. Oblivion loads up fine on max settings and runs great, only I continue to have problems with rundll32.exe with running these older games on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I had everything from Oblivion uninstalled on this computer a while ago (except for my saved games), so I don't think it had anything to do with that. For some reason the main game file wasn't selected as a default load option when choosing what content to load.

I recently picked up the Deluxe Oblivion game on Steam to replace my old CD collection as well.
